Telangana Government Assesses Rs 5,438 Crore Flood Damage

The Telangana government has estimated a total loss of Rs 5,438 crore due to floods across several districts following incessant rains. The damage breakdown includes:

  • Roads: Rs 2,362 crore
  • Energy (Electrical Installations): Rs 175 crore
  • Crop Loss (41,500 acres): Rs 415 crore
  • Irrigation (Minor Tanks Repair): Rs 629 crore
  • Panchayati Raj and Rural Development (including RWS): Rs 170 crore
  • Medical and Health: Rs 12 crore
  • Animal Husbandry: Rs 25 crore
  • Municipal Administration: Rs 1,150 crore
  • Other Departments and Public Properties: Rs 500 crore

Relief efforts include 110 camps, sheltering over 4,000 people. Authorities are monitoring crop damage in districts like Nalgonda, Siddipet, Khammam, and Suryapet, advising farmers on water drainage to minimize losses. However, without an insurance scheme, crop damage could be disastrous for farmers.
