Newlywed Woman Abducted by Family Over Love Marriage in Hyderabad

A shocking incident has surfaced from Medchal-Malkajgiri district, where a newly married woman named Shwetha was abducted by her own family for marrying against their wishes. According to reports, Shwetha’s parents strongly opposed her marriage with Jalagam Praveen, a resident of Narsampally village, but the couple tied the knot in Hyderabad four months ago. On Wednesday, when the couple was living in Praveen’s family home due to his ill health, Shwetha’s relatives stormed the house, dragged her out, and forced her into a vehicle.

During the abduction, the woman’s parents reportedly attacked her in-laws, using chili powder to blind those who tried to resist. The violent episode created panic in the locality, with even neighbors failing to stop the incident. CCTV footage of the attack has since come to light, exposing the brutality of the abduction. The woman’s sudden disappearance has left her husband’s family devastated, raising concerns about the safety of women in cases of inter-family disputes and love marriages.

Following the complaint filed by Praveen’s family, the police registered a case and began investigating with the help of the CCTV recordings. Authorities have assured strict action against those involved in the kidnapping and assault. The case has sparked outrage locally, with many questioning how such acts of family violence continue despite legal protections for adults choosing their partners. The incident once again highlights the social challenges couples face when love marriages go against family honor.
