The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has predicted very heavy monsoon rains across Telangana on Thursday, warning of thunderstorms and lightning in several districts. In response to the expected weather conditions, an orange alert has been issued, while a yellow alert is in place from September 27 to October 1. The forecast has raised concerns for both urban and rural areas, as heavy rainfall often leads to waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and power cuts across the state.
Weather enthusiast T. Balaji, known for his accurate updates, has also warned of non-stop rains in districts like Adilabad, Nizamabad, Jagitial, Warangal, and Mulugu over the next few hours. For Hyderabad, he has forecast light drizzles beginning from noon, followed by moderate showers in the afternoon and evening. Meanwhile, IMD has indicated that the city will likely witness heavier rainfall on Friday and Saturday, with a yellow alert issued for both days.
Authorities have urged citizens to plan travel carefully and stay updated with weather alerts, especially as Telangana continues to face challenges of poor road conditions and urban flooding during heavy rains. Commuters in Hyderabad have already experienced difficulties with waterlogged streets, and the coming days are expected to bring more disruption. Residents are advised to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel during peak rainfall hours.
