Israeli Strikes Kill Four in Southern Lebanon Despite Ongoing Ceasefire Tensions

At least four people were killed in fresh Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh district, raising serious questions about the effectiveness of the ongoing ceasefire arrangement with Hezbollah. According to official reports, two separate attacks targeted a truck and a motorcycle in Yohmor al-Shaqif, resulting in multiple casualties. The strikes are part of a continuing pattern of military operations, even as a ceasefire extension remains officially in place.

Ground reports from southern Lebanon indicate that air raids and explosions have continued across multiple areas, including Bint Jbeil and Khiam, where buildings and residential blocks were reportedly hit. Despite claims of a ceasefire, Israeli forces have maintained active operations, particularly in areas north of the Litani River. The ongoing violence highlights a clear contradiction — while diplomatic efforts suggest de-escalation, the situation on the ground reflects sustained military engagement and instability.

The broader conflict has already taken a heavy toll, with thousands reported killed and injured since early March. Political leaders and analysts argue that the ceasefire lacks real enforcement, with both sides holding conflicting positions. Israeli leadership insists on maintaining operational freedom against perceived threats, while Hezbollah has signaled its right to retaliate. For civilians, however, the reality remains unchanged — displacement, destruction, and constant fear, showing that the so-called ceasefire exists more on paper than in reality.
