Hyderabad Police Place BJP State Chief Ramchander Rao Under House Arrest Over Temple Site Event

BJP Telangana State President Ramchander Rao on Tuesday alleged that Hyderabad city police placed him under house arrest in connection with a planned event at the site of the demolished Pedamma Temple in Banjara Hills. According to Rao, police arrived at his residence early in the morning and informed him that the restriction was linked to the temple site, which had been removed by government and revenue officials.

Rao stated that locals have been demanding the temple’s reconstruction and that some community members had organised a puja at the location. He expressed concern over the timing of the police action, noting that it took place just before the scheduled religious gathering.

Criticising the move, the BJP leader accused the Congress government of curbing Hindu religious activities. He claimed that despite the BJP’s lack of formal involvement in the puja, he was being targeted for participating in programmes organised by Hindu organisations that uphold traditional values.
