In a significant welfare initiative, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced the launch of the “Chief Minister’s Thayumanavar Scheme” on Tuesday. The scheme aims to deliver essential ration items, including rice and sugar, directly to the homes of over 21 lakh beneficiaries across the state. This move is set to provide much-needed convenience and support to senior citizens aged above 70 and differently abled ration card holders.

According to an official press release, the initiative will cover around 20.42 lakh senior citizens and more than 1.27 lakh differently abled individuals. The Tamil Nadu government has already gathered the necessary beneficiary details from the Food and Consumer Protection Department, ensuring that the field staff are well-prepared to execute the deliveries efficiently.

Under this plan, ration supplies will be distributed every second Saturday and Sunday of the month. The government hopes that this doorstep service will ease the challenges faced by the elderly and differently abled in accessing public distribution system outlets, thereby enhancing their quality of life.
