Telangana Excise Police arrested three people in Siddipet on Tuesday for allegedly transporting and supplying alprazolam, seizing around 5 kg of the drug valued at approximately ₹50 lakh. The accused have been identified as Challagarige Srinivas, 40, Komuravelli Sarath, 36, and Muthyala Venkatesh, 41. According to Excise officials, the trio was allegedly transporting the drug from Maharashtra to Siddipet with the intention of selling it to consumers in Siddipet and neighbouring districts.

The arrests were made during a vehicle check on Ponnala Main Road in Siddipet. Excise officials intercepted the vehicle and, during the subsequent search, recovered the alleged contraband. The investigation reportedly revealed that the alprazolam had been procured in Maharashtra and was being transported to Telangana for distribution among consumers in Siddipet and surrounding areas. Officials also seized the car allegedly used for transporting the drug as part of the operation.

Following the arrests, the three accused, the seized alprazolam and the vehicle were handed over to the Siddipet Excise Police Station for further investigation. Authorities are now investigating the source of the drug, its intended distribution network and whether other individuals were involved in the alleged trafficking operation. The seizure is being viewed as a significant drug enforcement action in the Siddipet region, with further details expected as the investigation progresses.
