Fear has gripped the residents of Sirpur Kagaznagar mandal in Telangana’s K M Asifabad district following two tiger attacks in less than a week. The big cat, which is believed to have strayed into the region from Maharashtra, killed a young woman working in a cotton field and injured a farmer in separate incidents. Earlier, the tiger had targeted cattle in nearby villages, escalating concerns among the locals.
In response to the escalating crisis, the forest department has deployed 10 teams to track the tiger, which is roaming near the fringes of villages. Section 163 of the BNS Act has been enforced in the affected mandals of Kagaznagar and Sirpur T to ensure public safety. Officials have urged villagers to report any tiger sightings promptly and to avoid venturing into fields alone. Awareness campaigns are also underway to educate residents on safety measures.
The district administration is under pressure to address the growing threat. Meanwhile, the injured farmer is recovering, and compensation has been announced for the victim’s family. Despite these measures, the presence of the tiger continues to disrupt daily life, with villagers living in constant fear and authorities racing against time to capture the elusive predator.
