Nashik: A man has been arrested in Maharashtra’s Nashik district after allegedly chasing a woman for nearly 15 kilometres and attacking her when she resisted an alleged molestation attempt. According to police, the incident took place late at night while the woman was driving her car. Investigators said the accused first intercepted her vehicle and allegedly attempted to molest her. When she managed to escape in her car, the accused allegedly began pursuing her in his own vehicle through several parts of the city.
Police said the chase continued for around 15 kilometres, with CCTV cameras capturing multiple stages of the pursuit. Investigators alleged that the accused repeatedly tailed the woman’s car at high speed before eventually ramming her vehicle, forcing it to stop. He then allegedly assaulted the woman and attempted to kill her before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained injuries in the attack and was admitted to a hospital, where doctors said her condition is stable. CCTV footage has played a crucial role in helping police reconstruct the sequence of events.
Following a swift investigation, police tracked down and arrested the accused using CCTV footage, vehicle registration details, and other technical evidence. A case has been registered under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges of molestation, attempt to murder, wrongful restraint, and other relevant offences. The accused has been remanded to police custody, while investigators continue to examine whether he knew the victim or if the attack was random. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and renewed demands for stronger measures to ensure women’s safety on public roads.
