Two Killed After Massive Fire Engulfs Residential Building in Noida

Two people lost their lives after a major fire broke out in a residential building in Noida’s Mamura village on Wednesday. According to preliminary findings, the blaze is believed to have started while an electric vehicle was being charged in the ground-floor parking area before rapidly spreading to nearby petrol-powered vehicles. Thick smoke quickly filled the G+4 building, forcing emergency teams to evacuate around 50 families. Firefighters rushed to the scene with multiple fire tenders, hydraulic platforms, and rescue vehicles before bringing the fire under control.

Officials said the two victims suffered severe smoke inhalation and were shifted to a district hospital, where they later died. Joint Commissioner of Police Rajeev Narain stated that the building housed around 50 families, with approximately five families living on each floor. Rescue teams carried out an extensive evacuation operation to ensure that all remaining residents were brought to safety. Authorities have registered a case, and both the building owner and the leaseholder have been taken into custody as investigators examine whether safety norms were violated.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took note of the incident and directed officials to supervise rescue and relief operations while ensuring proper medical care for those affected. He also instructed the administration to provide immediate assistance to the victims and continuously monitor the situation. Although investigators believe the fire may have originated during the charging of an electric vehicle, officials have emphasized that the exact cause will be confirmed only after a detailed forensic investigation is completed.
