Hyderabad: A man from the Old City was detained by the Cyberabad police after he was found carrying a licensed firearm inside Lulu Mall in Kukatpally Housing Board (KPHB) Colony on Tuesday. The incident came to light after a clash broke out between two families in the mall’s parking area, prompting police to rush to the spot and bring the situation under control.

During questioning of those involved in the dispute, police found a firearm in the pocket of a man identified as Siddiqui. The weapon was immediately seized for verification, and officials later confirmed that it was covered by a valid licence. However, the incident raised concerns over security arrangements at the shopping mall, as the firearm had reportedly entered the premises without being detected during routine screening.

Following the incident, police registered a case against the Lulu Mall management, alleging negligence in security checks. Investigators are examining how the licensed weapon bypassed the mall’s security system and whether standard screening protocols were properly followed by security personnel. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
