Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) strongly criticised the Congress government on Monday, accusing it of failing to maintain proper sanitation in Hyderabad and across Telangana. He said that poor coordination between the municipal and health departments has led to garbage heaps piling up, sewage water stagnating on roads, and foul smell spreading in several towns. KTR expressed concern that citizens are being forced to live in unhygienic conditions due to the government’s negligence.
Taking a sharp dig at the ruling party, KTR even labelled it a “Trash Government,” highlighting that the situation has worsened during the rainy season. He pointed out that seasonal diseases are spreading rapidly, while government and private hospitals are overflowing with patients. According to him, the current administration has failed to act with urgency or take precautionary steps, thereby putting public health at risk during a time when preventive measures were crucial.
KTR also compared the Congress government’s inaction with the BRS government’s earlier practices. He said that in the past, before the onset of monsoons, departments like GHMC, medical health, and municipal bodies used to conduct joint review meetings to prepare for seasonal challenges. These proactive efforts helped reduce health risks and manage sanitation effectively. However, he alleged that such planning and coordination is now completely absent, resulting in poor governance and increased suffering for the people.
