In a shocking incident, twelve children at an Anganwadi centre in Kukatlapally village of Kowdipally mandal, Medak district, had a narrow escape on Friday morning when a portion of the classroom’s roof slab collapsed just moments after they entered the room. The children, who had gathered for their daily activities, were only inches away from the falling debris, which could have caused severe injuries or fatalities.
According to initial reports, the collapse occurred without any prior warning, sending the children and staff into panic. Fortunately, all the children were rescued safely, and no injuries were reported. Teachers and local residents rushed to the scene and quickly moved the children to a safer area. The Anganwadi workers immediately informed the local authorities about the mishap, seeking urgent attention to the deteriorating condition of the building.
Teachers and officials have attributed the structural damage to continuous rainfall over the past four days, which is believed to have weakened the roof and triggered the collapse. The incident has sparked concern among parents and the local community regarding the safety of children in government-run institutions. Authorities are now inspecting the Anganwadi centre and similar structures in the region to prevent such accidents in the future.
