Kejriwal Promises Free Water and Power for Tenants in Delhi if AAP Wins

Arvind Kejriwal, national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), announced on Saturday that his government would extend free water and electricity benefits to tenants if re-elected in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Speaking at a press conference, Kejriwal addressed grievances of tenants, particularly those from the Purvanchal region, who currently lack access to these schemes despite enjoying improved schools and hospitals.

The Delhi Chief Minister emphasized that tenants often feel left out of welfare programs and assured voters that this issue would be resolved after the elections. “We are committed to ensuring that tenants are not deprived of basic amenities like water and power. They are as much a part of Delhi’s progress as homeowners,” he stated, adding that the initiative aims to make Delhi inclusive for all.

This announcement comes as AAP gears up for a competitive election on February 5, with the BJP and Congress challenging its bid for a third term in power. Political analysts view this move as a strategic effort to garner support from the tenant population, a significant voting bloc in the capital.
