Jubilee Hills By-Election: HYC Founder Salman Khan’s Nomination Rejected Amid Political Controversy

Hyderabad Youth Congress (HYC) founder Salman Khan has alleged that his nomination for the Jubilee Hills by-election was unfairly rejected by the Election Commission under political pressure from the ruling Congress government. In a post on X, he claimed that the Returning Officer dismissed all four of his nominations without providing a valid reason. The rejection has sparked debate among local political observers, with supporters accusing authorities of bias and interference ahead of the November 11 polls.

According to his affidavit, Salman Khan declared total personal assets worth ₹5,18,101, while his wife’s assets include ₹1,618 in a bank account, ₹20,000 in cash, and three tolas of gold. The modest asset disclosure drew public attention, especially given previous allegations against him involving misappropriation of crowdfunding funds, bribery, and misuse of charitable donations. Critics have questioned the accuracy of his financial statements, while Khan maintains that the charges are politically motivated attempts to tarnish his image.

The Jubilee Hills by-election, scheduled for November 11 with counting on November 14, was announced following the death of BRS leader G. Maganti in June due to a heart attack. The contest is expected to be closely watched, as the constituency has long been a political stronghold for the BRS. Khan’s disqualification has altered the race’s dynamics, with opposition parties accusing the Congress of suppressing political challengers, while election officials continue to insist that the rejection followed procedural guidelines.
