Students residing at the SC Boys’ Hostel in Basheerabad mandal of Vikarabad district are facing a serious drinking water crisis, forcing them to struggle for even their basic daily needs. According to the students, there is no reliable water supply for drinking, bathing, or using the hostel’s bathrooms. As a result, they have been fetching water from the police station located opposite the hostel and the nearby Mandal Resource Centre (MRC), making daily life extremely difficult.
The students said the hostel’s borewell has remained out of service for nearly a year, yet no repair work has been undertaken despite repeated complaints. They also alleged that although the hostel has a Mission Bhagiratha water connection, water is not being supplied through it. The prolonged shortage has disrupted their routine and affected their health, hygiene, and overall living conditions, leaving them with no option but to depend on nearby government offices for water.
The students further claimed that funds had already been sanctioned by the district collector to repair the damaged borewell, but the work has not yet begun. They have appealed to the concerned authorities to take immediate action by restoring the borewell and ensuring a regular water supply through the Mission Bhagiratha connection. They said access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation is essential for students living in the hostel and urged officials to resolve the issue without further delay.
