Hyderabad’s Milad un Nabi Processions Postponed to September 14 After Owaisi’s Meeting with CM

Hyderabad MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, along with AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi and members of the Markazi Milad Juloos Committee, met Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy on Friday to discuss the upcoming Milad un Nabi processions. The committee requested the state government to grant permission for processions in Hyderabad and other districts on Sunday, September 14. They also appealed to the CM for the decoration of historic mosques and dargahs, besides providing free electricity supply during the celebrations.

Although Eid Milad un Nabi falls on September 5 this year, the committee decided to postpone the processions as the date coincides with Ganesh idol immersions scheduled for September 6. This decision comes in the backdrop of last year’s experience as well, when Milad un Nabi on September 16 and Ganesh immersion on September 17 overlapped, leading to a rescheduling of the processions. By shifting the date this year, the committee aims to avoid any logistical and security issues, ensuring smooth conduct of both festivals.

The decision underscores the effort to maintain communal harmony and facilitate peaceful celebrations in Hyderabad, where both Ganesh Chaturthi and Milad un Nabi hold significant cultural and religious importance. By postponing the Milad un Nabi processions to September 14, the organizers hope to provide adequate space for devotees of both communities to observe their traditions without disruption. The state government’s assurance of cooperation and the involvement of AIMIM leaders in discussions reflect a collaborative approach to festival management in the city.
