Hyderabad is set to witness a major event on September 6, as Union Home Minister Amit Shah will participate as the Chief Guest in the Ganesh Visarjan “Shobha Yatra” procession. The Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee had extended the invitation to Shah, who accepted and confirmed his presence for the grand annual religious procession. It is planned that he will address the devotees and the public at two key locations along the route—Charminar and M J Market junction—making the occasion even more significant for the city.
Dr. Ravinutala Shashidhar, general secretary of the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee, revealed that this year’s celebrations are larger than ever, with nearly 1.4 lakh Ganesh idols, each five feet and above, installed across Hyderabad. Alongside, one lakh saffron flags have been placed throughout the city as part of the festive spirit. The committee has also invited several seers who will tour pandals in different neighborhoods, interacting with devotees and offering blessings during the festival. The combination of the spiritual significance of Ganesh Visarjan and the political presence of Amit Shah is expected to draw massive crowds.
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Police are leaving no stone unturned to ensure a smooth and safe procession. Security has been tightened across the city, with around 25,000 police personnel deployed to manage the enormous gathering expected on the streets. Along with religious festivities, Shah’s visit is expected to include a meeting with top BJP leaders in Telangana, where he is likely to discuss the party’s strategy and political affairs in the state. The Ganesh procession, which already holds cultural and devotional importance for Hyderabad, is now poised to become a major political and public event with Amit Shah’s participation.
