Hyderabad: Tragedy struck on Gajularamaram road early Sunday morning when a speeding car, driven by a 20-year-old student allegedly under the influence of alcohol and without a driver’s license, crashed into a 38-year-old watchman, resulting in his immediate death. The victim, identified as Basha Gopi, was thrown approximately 10 meters from the impact and landed on the other side of a fence.

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Jeedimetla police station. The car, driven by Manish Goud, a second-year degree student, was carrying five other individuals at the time. The group attempted to flee the scene after the accident, with some passengers jumping over a compound wall to escape. However, Goud was apprehended by passersby who witnessed the incident.

Jeedimetla circle inspector G. Mallesh confirmed that the vehicle was traveling from Devendranagar road to Gajularamaram when the accident happened. Goud has been taken into police custody, while the other five individuals remain at large.

The collision was captured on CCTV, and a video of the incident has since gone viral on social media. The footage shows the car being driven recklessly and highlights the car’s negligent speed and the near-miss with a two-wheeler rider trying to avoid a crash.

A case has been registered against Manish Goud, and further investigations are ongoing to address the circumstances surrounding the tragic event. The incident underscores ongoing concerns about road safety and the enforcement of driving regulations.
