A tragic accident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at Hyderabad’s Panjagutta flyover, where three men fell onto the road below after their speeding bike lost control and crashed into the side wall. The victims, identified as 30-year-old Laxminarayana alias Srinivas, 28-year-old Bharat, and 28-year-old Venu, were immediately rushed to Osmania General Hospital. However, Bharat was declared dead on arrival, and Laxminarayana succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Venu survived the crash but sustained multiple fractures in his right leg and left hand and is currently under medical care.
According to police, the accident took place when the trio was traveling from Begumpet towards Panjagutta. Laxminarayana, who was riding the bike, lost control, causing the vehicle to ram into the side wall of the flyover. The impact was so strong that all three were thrown off the elevated road, plunging to the ground below. The horrifying fall turned fatal for two of them, while Venu’s survival is being termed as extremely fortunate given the severity of the crash.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the men may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, which possibly led to reckless driving and loss of control. The police have registered a case and are awaiting further medical reports to confirm whether intoxication played a role in the tragedy. Meanwhile, the accident has once again raised concerns over late-night rash driving and drunk driving in the city, with officials urging citizens to exercise caution and avoid dangerous driving practices, especially on flyovers.
