Farmers’ Group Shows Solidarity with Palestine, Donates Rs 5 Lakh

The Kirti Kisan Union, a farmers’ organization, has donated Rs 5 lakh to support the people of Palestine amidst the ongoing conflict.¹ The union’s leaders met with Palestine’s ambassador to India, Abed Elrazeg Abu Jazer, and handed over the aid in response to the UN’s appeal for humanitarian assistance. This gesture demonstrates the union’s solidarity with the Palestinian people, who are facing immense difficulties due to the conflict.

The Kirti Kisan Union has also demanded a permanent truce in West Asia and urged the United Nations to find a sustainable solution to the Palestine issue.² The union’s president condemned the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people by Israel, labeling it a “dark chapter in the history of human civilization”. The leaders drew parallels between the suffering of the Palestinian people and the Sikh community’s experiences during Partition and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

The union appealed to the global community to speak out against the atrocities in Palestine and demand an immediate ceasefire. They also criticized the Israeli government’s actions, comparing them to the atrocities committed against Jews during the Nazi regime. Furthermore, the Kirti Kisan Union urged organizations like the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to provide assistance to the people of Gaza.
