As Hyderabad prepares for the monsoon season, senior officials from the Cyberabad Police and municipal administration conducted a comprehensive inspection of several flood-prone locations across the Cyberabad Commissionerate limits on Wednesday. Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr. M. Ramesh and Municipal Commissioner Srujana led the field visit to assess preparedness measures aimed at preventing waterlogging, reducing traffic disruptions, and ensuring public safety during periods of heavy rainfall. The inspection focused on identifying vulnerable areas and evaluating the effectiveness of existing drainage infrastructure before the onset of intense monsoon showers.
During the inspection, officials visited multiple locations that have historically experienced water accumulation during heavy rains. Key areas reviewed included the IT Corridor stretch near Care Hospital between Malkam Cheruvu and Biodiversity Junction, sections of the University of Hyderabad Road, Harsha Toyota Showroom Junction in Kondapur, and other critical waterlogging hotspots. Engineering department personnel accompanied the officials to examine drainage networks and assess the ground situation. Authorities directed concerned departments to undertake immediate corrective measures and work towards permanent solutions for recurring drainage and flooding issues affecting commuters.
Officials stressed the importance of close coordination between civic bodies, police personnel, and engineering teams to effectively tackle monsoon-related challenges. They noted that water stagnation often leads to severe traffic congestion, inconvenience to residents, and safety concerns across major roads and junctions. By identifying problem areas in advance and implementing preventive measures, the administration aims to ensure smooth traffic movement and minimize disruptions during the rainy season. Several senior officials, including Serilingampally Zonal Commissioner Narayana Amit, Kukatpally DCP Rithraj, and ADCP Hanumantha Rao, participated in the inspection drive as part of broader efforts to strengthen urban infrastructure resilience and monsoon preparedness across Cyberabad.
