Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Eatala Rajender has criticized the Telangana government for its selective demolition drive carried out by the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRA). Rajender questioned why the government hasn’t taken action against prominent establishments like Prasad’s IMAX, Paradise Biryani, and Jala Vihar, which were constructed around Hussain Sagar lake. He argued that these structures were built on Full Tank Level (FTL) land, yet the government is targeting poor people’s homes instead.
Rajender challenged the government to focus on the current needs of the people, particularly those living in settlements near water bodies, and provide them with basic necessities like clean drinking water. He also emphasized that the government should prioritize reclaiming lake areas converted into recreational grounds. The BJP MP expressed dismay over the Congress government’s ecological balance rhetoric, suggesting that it should take concrete steps to address environmental concerns.
