The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has demanded a government-led independent inquiry into a police firing incident at Chaderghat, Hyderabad, in which a suspected robber, Syed Omer Ansari, was injured. The incident occurred when the police opened fire on Ansari, who was allegedly attempting to attack a personal security officer (PSO) during a chase.
According to officials, Ansari, a rowdy sheeter from Kalapather police station limits, had fled after snatching a mobile phone. The DCP (South East) S. Chaitanya Kumar and his PSO pursued him. When the PSO managed to catch the suspect, Ansari reportedly tried to stab him with a knife, prompting the DCP to take the PSO’s weapon and fire three rounds.
Ansari sustained two bullet injuries and was shifted to a private hospital in Banjara Hills. AIMIM Bahadurpura MLA Mohd Mubeen visited the hospital and later urged the government to conduct an impartial investigation to uncover the full facts behind the firing incident.
