Ganesh Immersion Processions Begin in Hyderabad Amid Tight Security

Ganesh immersion processions have begun in Hyderabad, with over 25,000 police personnel deployed to ensure a smooth and peaceful conduct of the annual festival. Thousands of idols will be immersed in Hussain Sagar Lake and other water bodies across the city. To facilitate the immersion, 12 cranes have been arranged on a three-kilometer stretch of Tank Bund.

The procession routes have been designated to minimize disruptions, with the main procession starting from Balapur at Katta Maisamma Temple and passing through Keshavagiri, Chandrayangutta Flyover, and Falaknuma Railway Over Bridge before reaching NTR Marg and PVNR Marg (Necklace Road). Other processions will start from Secunderabad, Chilkalguda X Roads, East Zone, and Uppal areas, and will merge with the main procession at various points.

To ensure public safety, traffic curbs have been imposed within the limits of all three police commissionerates. No traffic will be allowed on the main procession route between 6 am on September 17 and 10 am on September 18, except for idol-carrying vehicles. Commuters are advised to use alternative routes, such as the Inner Ring Road or Outer Ring Road, to avoid traffic diversion points. The police will supervise the immersion with 733 CCTV cameras.
