Hyderabad: In a tragic industrial accident near Hyderabad, five migrant workers lost their lives and 12 others were injured after a crane collapsed at a prefabricated structure manufacturing unit in Shankarpally. The incident took place on Monday evening in Mahalingapuram village during strong winds and heavy rain, when nearly 17 workers had taken shelter inside a shed that was struck by the falling crane.
Telangana Labour Minister G Vivek Venkatswamy visited the injured victims in the hospital and reviewed their condition with medical staff. Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives, he directed officials to submit a detailed report on the incident. The minister also assured that the state government would extend full support to the families of the deceased and ensure proper medical care for those injured.
The victims were migrant labourers from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha, highlighting once again the safety risks faced by workers at industrial sites. The government’s assurance comes amid growing concerns over workplace safety standards, especially during adverse weather conditions. Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the collapse and take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
