Dozens of frustrated passengers were left stranded at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport after a Vietnam Airlines flight to Hanoi was delayed for more than 12 hours. The flight, originally scheduled to depart at 11:55 pm on Friday, faced a major technical snag that halted operations overnight. Around 193 passengers waited helplessly at the terminal, receiving little to no information or assistance from airline authorities. Tempers flared as travelers—many with connecting flights and urgent commitments—demanded clarity on the situation.
Videos circulating on social media captured the growing chaos inside the airport, showing passengers confronting airline staff and demanding immediate action. “You said it would be done by 9:00 am, then 10:30 am—we’ve been here all night!” one agitated passenger shouted. Others called for a responsible technician to fix the aircraft or provide an alternate arrangement. The lack of timely updates, food, or accommodation added to the anger, prompting heated exchanges between travelers and ground officials.
Airport sources later confirmed that the delay was caused by technical issues linked to the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, which disrupted several connected flights. While Vietnam Airlines assured that the matter was being resolved, the incident raised serious concerns about passenger management and crisis communication at Hyderabad Airport. Authorities have been urged to ensure better coordination and quicker response in future disruptions to avoid such public distress and inconvenience.
