86 Students Fall Ill in Gadwal Hostel Food Poisoning Incident, Probe Underway

A major case of suspected food poisoning was reported from a BC hostel in Dharmavaram village of Erravalli mandal, Jogulamba Gadwal district, Telangana, on Friday night. Out of 125 students residing in the hostel, 110 were present when dinner was served. Soon after the meal, several students began vomiting and complained of nausea and dizziness, triggering panic among hostel authorities.

The hostel staff, with assistance from local police, immediately arranged ambulances to transport the affected students to Gadwal Area Hospital. Officials confirmed that around 86 students received treatment for foodborne illness, while at least 50 had to be hospitalised for observation. Medical teams have been deployed to monitor the condition of all students and ensure their recovery.

District authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the contamination. Preliminary suspicion points toward unhygienic food preparation or spoiled ingredients. Samples from the kitchen have been collected for laboratory testing. Officials assured that all students are now stable and under medical supervision, and strict action will be taken against those found responsible for negligence.
