Thunderstorms, Rain to Lash Telangana for Four Days as IMD Issues Yellow Alert

Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of widespread rainfall and thunderstorm activity across Telangana over the next four days, bringing relief from the intense heatwave conditions that have gripped the state in recent weeks. The weather department has issued a yellow alert valid until June 5, cautioning residents about thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and moderate rainfall in several districts. Authorities have advised citizens to remain alert and plan outdoor activities carefully during the forecast period.

The expected weather change comes after Telangana witnessed exceptionally high temperatures, with several locations recording temperatures above 46 degrees Celsius in recent days. According to official data, the highest temperature recorded on Monday was 43.8 degrees Celsius in Nalgonda, while Hyderabad’s highest temperature reached 41.6 degrees Celsius in Maredpally. Meteorologists believe the incoming rain-bearing systems will help lower temperatures significantly, providing much-needed relief to residents who have been struggling with extreme summer conditions.

Apart from districts across Telangana, Hyderabad is also expected to experience rain and thundershowers until Friday. The IMD has forecast partly cloudy skies along with intermittent rainfall in the city. Weather experts have also predicted scattered storm activity in parts of Hyderabad, particularly in northern and western areas during the evening and night hours. Officials have advised commuters and travelers to stay updated with weather alerts, as thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds may affect traffic movement and outdoor events across the state over the coming days.
