Telangana has witnessed heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, resulting in flooding across several districts. Streams, lakes, and major roads are overflowing, forcing authorities to implement traffic diversions and emergency measures in the worst-hit regions. Mulugu and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts have been severely impacted, with the District Disaster Response Force (DDRF) placed on high alert. Bejjur in Asifabad recorded the highest rainfall at 236.5 mm till 3 AM, while Venkatapura in Mulugu district followed with 218.3 mm. Several other locations, including parts of Bhadradri Kothagudem and Karimnagar, also reported very heavy rainfall.
Mulugu district collector Divakar TS has issued a public advisory urging residents to avoid crossing bridges, streams, and highways where floodwaters are flowing. Fishermen have been strictly advised to remain ashore until the weather improves. Traffic disruptions were reported after a temporary road over Ralla Vagu stream in Mulugu district was washed away due to the intense rainfall. Emergency response teams are working round the clock to ensure public safety and prevent casualties.
Authorities have issued warnings to people living in low-lying areas near the Godavari River to prepare for relocation as water levels continue to rise. Rehabilitation centres are being prepared with essential amenities for evacuees. Residents living in old and unsafe structures have also been asked to shift to safer locations to avoid mishaps.
