Telangana Formation Day Event: Woman SI Suffers Heatstroke, Collapses During Duty in Nalgonda

Nalgonda: A woman Sub-Inspector identified as Amreen collapsed while performing official duties during Telangana Formation Day celebrations in Nalgonda on Tuesday. The incident occurred amid soaring temperatures across Telangana, where intense heatwave conditions continue to affect several districts. According to reports, the officer suddenly fell unconscious while stationed at the event venue, prompting an immediate response from fellow police personnel and security staff present at the location.

Eyewitnesses stated that officers rushed to assist Amreen as soon as she collapsed. A video circulating on social media shows security personnel carrying the Sub-Inspector to a nearby tent, where she was provided immediate medical attention. Preliminary reports suggest that heatstroke was the likely cause of the incident. The event drew significant public attention, highlighting the difficult conditions faced by police officers and other frontline personnel who remain on duty for long hours during public celebrations despite extreme weather conditions.

The incident comes at a time when Telangana is witnessing severe heatwave conditions. In recent weeks, temperatures in several districts have crossed 45 degrees Celsius, with Dahegaon village in Komaram Bheem Asifabad recording 46.5 degrees Celsius. Other areas, including Dandepally in Mancherial and Maddirala in Suryapet, also reported exceptionally high temperatures. Health officials have repeatedly advised citizens to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as heat-related illnesses continue to pose a serious risk across the state.
