In a major crackdown on corruption within the police force, Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended two senior police officials from Suryapet district for accepting a bribe of ₹16 lakh. Deputy Superintendent of Police K Paratha Sarathi and Inspector P Veera Raghavulu allegedly demanded ₹25 lakh from the owner of a diagnostic centre to shield him from legal action in a case lodged at Suryapet II Town Police Station. After negotiations, the bribe amount was settled at ₹16 lakh.

The diagnostic centre owner, wanting to continue running his scanning centre without interference, reached out to the officers for a compromise. Suspecting foul play, he later approached the ACB and filed a formal complaint. A sting operation was swiftly organized by the agency, leading to both officers being caught red-handed while receiving the agreed bribe amount.

Following their arrest, the officers were presented before the Second Additional Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally. The ACB confirmed that further investigations are ongoing to uncover deeper links and any potential involvement of more officials. The incident has sparked public outrage, once again highlighting the deeply entrenched issue of bribery in the system.
