Malkajgiri BJP MP Etela Rajender launched a sharp attack on the Congress-led Telangana government during his visit to Pujita Apartment in Bachupalli, Medchal-Malkajgiri district. He criticized the administration as “headless” and predicted its collapse, expressing strong disapproval over demolition notices served to residents by local authorities. According to Etela, these notices were unfair and caused fear among citizens instead of offering support, alleging that the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) was behind the move. He assured the affected residents that he would raise the matter at all forums and stand by them in their fight.

In response to the allegations, HYDRAA commissioner AV Ranganath issued a firm clarification on Monday, May 12, stating that HYDRAA had no role in issuing the demolition warnings. He explained that the notices were sent by the Bachupalli Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) independently and without HYDRAA’s knowledge or authorization. Ranganath expressed concern that such actions were wrongly being attributed to HYDRAA, leading to unnecessary fear among the public. He confirmed that he had spoken to the Medchal-Malkajgiri district collector for further clarity and had sought an explanation from the MRO involved in the matter.

Ranganath emphasized that HYDRAA operates within strict boundaries, never targeting homes built before July 2024 or touching approved commercial complexes. He highlighted the agency’s commitment to acting against land encroachment while protecting the interests of the common people. Dismissing Etela’s statements as misleading, he urged the public not to fall for political narratives. The commissioner also mentioned a prior meeting with Etela at the Secretariat where he had clarified HYDRAA’s role, calling it unfortunate that despite that discussion, such public accusations were still being made.
