Stalin, Kanimozhi to Join Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar on August 27

The Congress party’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, launched by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on August 17 in Purnea, Bihar, is gradually shaping up as a major show of opposition unity. On August 27, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and DMK Parliamentary Party leader Kanimozhi Karunanidhi will join the march, signaling the DMK’s solidarity with the Congress and its Bihar allies. The yatra, framed as a mass struggle against alleged irregularities in the voter list revision process, is also aimed at countering what Gandhi describes as systemic attempts to disenfranchise large sections of voters.

Since its launch, Rahul Gandhi has been travelling across multiple districts of Bihar, accompanied by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. The duo has addressed public meetings, interacted with citizens, and participated in rallies that highlight grassroots participation in the campaign. A two-wheeler rally in Purnea featuring both leaders became a strong symbol of youth involvement and democratic assertion. With every stop, the yatra has gathered more attention and momentum, positioning itself as a campaign that transcends regional boundaries.

The grand finale of the yatra is scheduled for September 1 in Patna, where Rahul Gandhi will address a mass public rally, expected to bring together leaders from across the INDIA bloc. By securing the presence of southern leaders like Stalin and Kanimozhi, the Congress is seeking to project the yatra as a national movement for electoral fairness rather than just a state-level protest. As national elections approach, the Congress is intensifying its accusations against the BJP and the Election Commission, alleging collusion and “vote theft” to manipulate outcomes. Through this campaign, Gandhi aims to portray himself as a defender of democratic values and the integrity of India’s electoral process.
