EC Publishes List of 65 Lakh Deleted Voters in Bihar After Roll Revision

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the names of nearly 65 lakh voters who have been removed from the Bihar draft electoral roll published on August 1, following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The updated list, now available on the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Bihar, includes details of voters who were part of the rolls until 2025 but have not been carried forward into the latest draft. This move aims to bring transparency in the voter verification process and allow citizens to cross-check their status.

According to the CEO office, booth-level officers (BLOs), with assistance from booth-level agents appointed by political parties, local representatives, and concerned officials, compiled the names of voters whose enumeration slips were not received during the verification exercise. The large-scale deletion is being viewed as a significant development ahead of the upcoming elections, with authorities emphasizing that it was carried out to ensure accuracy in the electoral rolls. The ECI has urged citizens to carefully check their details to avoid issues on polling day.

The notice further clarifies that any individual dissatisfied with their deletion can file a claim by submitting proof of identity, such as an Aadhaar card. The downloadable list includes detailed information such as serial number, EPIC number, name, relation type, name of relative, old part and serial number, age, gender, and the stated reason for non-inclusion in the August 1 draft. This step, the commission states, is part of a broader initiative to maintain an updated and error-free electoral database, thereby strengthening the democratic process in Bihar.
