New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 26, seeking the Centre’s backing for several crucial state projects, including the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) rescue operation, the Regional Ring Road (RRR), and Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion. The CM also urged the central government to allocate ₹20,000 crore for the Musi Riverfront Development Project, aiming to rejuvenate water bodies across Telangana. Highlighting the state’s infrastructure needs, Reddy requested approval for a high-speed Regional Ring Rail network to enhance Telangana’s connectivity with neighboring states and boost trade and industrial growth.

During the hour-long discussion, Revanth Reddy emphasized the urgent requirement for the Centre’s assistance in infrastructure development, including the fast-tracking of land acquisitions for the southern segment of the RRR project. He also proposed setting up dry ports along the RRR corridor and linking them to Andhra Pradesh’s seaports to strengthen Telangana’s logistics network. Additionally, he sought PM Modi’s approval to establish the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) in the state, positioning Telangana as a major hub in India’s semiconductor and electronics industry. The CM reiterated the demand for 2,450 acres of defense land to be transferred to the state government for various infrastructure projects.

Apart from large-scale infrastructure initiatives, the Telangana CM highlighted law enforcement challenges and requested an increase in IPS cadre posts, citing rising cybercrimes and urban security concerns. He also pushed for the revival of the Information Technology and Investment Region (ITIR) project, which was originally approved under the UPA government but stalled in recent years. Further, he reminded the Centre of Telangana’s pending demand for 25 lakh houses under central housing schemes. Revanth Reddy is expected to meet several Union ministers later in the day to discuss state-specific issues and funding requests.
