Indore: The Indian Railways has launched an inquiry after a video went viral on social media allegedly showing the loco pilot of the Indore–Mhow DEMU train stopping the train near a roadside eatery to purchase samosas. According to reports, the train came to a halt close to the food stall, after which the loco pilot was seen getting down from the locomotive and buying snacks before returning to the driver’s cabin. The train reportedly resumed its journey only after the loco pilot reboarded, raising questions about whether the halt was officially authorised.
Local residents claimed that the train frequently stops at the same location for a few minutes, resulting in delays of nearly 10 minutes on several occasions. The viral video sparked widespread criticism online, with many social media users questioning passenger inconvenience and demanding accountability. The incident has also prompted discussions about adherence to railway operating procedures and whether personal reasons were behind the unscheduled stop.
Taking serious note of the viral footage, Railway authorities have ordered a detailed investigation into the incident. Officials stated that strict disciplinary action will be taken if it is established that the train was halted without any operational necessity and solely to allow the loco pilot to purchase samosas. The inquiry will determine whether railway rules were violated and whether any negligence or misuse of authority occurred during the operation of the train.
