An FIR has been registered against Suma S. Sahukar, daughter of Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) Chairman Shivashankarappa Sahukar, over allegations that she submitted a false income certificate while applying for the post of Industrial Extension Officer in the Department of Industries and Commerce. The case was registered at Bengaluru’s Vidhana Soudha Police Station based on a complaint filed by KPSC Assistant Secretary B.N. Shobha. Officials allege that the certificate was used to claim reservation benefits under the 3B category by declaring incorrect family income details.
According to the complaint, the income certificate submitted with the application stated that the family’s annual income was only ₹40,000. However, KPSC officials pointed out that Shivashankarappa Sahukar has been drawing a monthly salary exceeding ₹2 lakh since his appointment as a KPSC member in 2019 and later as Chairman in 2021. Authorities also referred to asset declarations submitted to the Governor, claiming they indicate financial resources far above the income mentioned in the certificate. Officials allege that the candidate suppressed material facts and made false declarations to obtain reservation benefits.
The FIR comes amid an ongoing controversy surrounding the KPSC recruitment process and allegations that the Commission chairman misused his position to benefit family members. Police will now examine the authenticity of the income and caste certificates, verify official records with the KPSC and revenue authorities, and determine whether offences related to cheating, submission of forged documents, and wrongful availing of reservation benefits have been committed. The investigation is currently underway.
