Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Saturday launched ‘Satyagraha’, a digital platform aimed at bringing together issue-based protests from across the country. Launching the initiative a day after Mahatma Gandhi’s 157th birth anniversary, Rahul Gandhi said the platform would help document and connect citizens raising their voices against injustice. He encouraged people to register their protests on the platform so that different movements taking place across India could be seen and supported in one place.
Addressing the public through a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said students, farmers, Adivasis, Dalits, women, Gen Z and other groups are fighting for their rights, often in isolation. Referring to Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals, he said truth becomes stronger when people stand together. He assured citizens that those who share their struggles through the platform would become part of a nationwide network and that he would support them through Parliament, public campaigns and other democratic forums wherever possible.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said the ‘Satyagraha’ platform is intended to unite various protests under a single digital platform. He criticised the police action against demonstrators protesting outside the Election Commission a day earlier and alleged that peaceful protesters were detained despite exercising their constitutional rights. According to Ramesh, the Congress party will continue to support citizens and organisations raising their voices through democratic means, while the new platform aims to connect such movements across the country.
