An Odisha-based researcher with mental illness was kidnapped and gang-raped in Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan area. Three men have been arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred on October 10. The victim, who has a postgraduate degree in social work, was rescued and is receiving treatment for her mental health condition at AIIMS.

The police gained her trust through a woman officer posing as a social worker and gathered crucial information. The investigation revealed that the victim was targeted by an autorickshaw driver and two others, including a beggar with a physical handicap. The accused allegedly forcibly dragged her to a deserted area and committed the crime.

The arrests were made between October 30 and November 4. The police used CCTV footage and checked over 150 suspected autorickshaws to identify the accused.
