Migrant Worker Rescued From Covered Drain in Kozhikode Under Mysterious Circumstances

Kozhikode: A migrant worker claiming to be from West Bengal was rescued from inside a covered roadside drain in Kerala’s Kozhikode on Saturday, after a passerby noticed a hand emerging through a small opening and alerted authorities. Fire and Rescue Services personnel rushed to the scene and used a hydraulic machine to lift one of the concrete slabs covering the drain before safely pulling the man out. The unusual incident quickly drew attention due to the puzzling circumstances surrounding how the worker ended up trapped inside the enclosed structure.

According to fire force officials, the rescued man claimed that he had been trapped inside the drain for the past several days and alleged that a magician had somehow placed him there using “magic.” Authorities said the explanation appeared unusual and raised further questions about the incident. Officials noted that there were no open manholes, broken slabs, or visible entry points near the location from which the man could have easily entered or fallen into the drain. They also observed that he was dressed only in trousers when rescued, adding to the mystery surrounding the case.

Rescue personnel stated that the man’s account has not yet been verified and that the exact sequence of events remains unclear. The worker was safely brought out and handed over for further examination and questioning. Authorities are expected to investigate how he entered the covered drain and whether any other factors were involved. The incident has sparked curiosity among local residents, with many questioning how the man managed to remain inside the enclosed drainage system without an obvious point of access for several days.
