Hyderabad turned into a sea of saffron as thousands of devotees joined the grand Hanuman Jayanti procession organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal on Saturday, April 12. The event, named ‘Veer Hanuman Vijaya Yatra’, began with great fervor from Ram Mandir at Gowliguda in the Old City and is expected to culminate at Hanuman Temple in Bowenpally by evening. Devotees—many dressed in saffron attire—walked, rode bikes, and carried flags, creating a vibrant spectacle across the city. The main route of the procession included significant areas such as Koti, Sultan Bazaar, Narayanguda, and Secunderabad.
In addition to the central rally, several smaller processions from areas like Saidabad, Madannapet, Dhoolpet, and Rajendranagar merged with the main march, adding to the energy and volume of the gathering. Popular Hindutva-themed songs like ‘Baap toh Baap Rahega’ and ‘Banayenge Mandir’ echoed through loudspeakers mounted on vehicles, while the Hyderabad police permitted limited use of large sound systems for devotional music. Local communities also contributed by setting up drinking water and food stalls along the procession path to ensure the comfort of participants.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand visited Ram Mandir early in the day, offered prayers, and closely inspected security arrangements to maintain law and order. The procession, which drew participants from across the city, remained under heavy police watch with strategic deployment at key intersections. While the event highlighted the religious fervor of Hanuman Jayanti, it also marked a significant public gathering showcasing the strength and scale of organized celebrations by Hindu groups in Hyderabad.
