I-T Raids on Congress Leader Ranjith Reddy and DSR Group Over Tax Evasion Allegations

The Income Tax Department on Tuesday launched extensive raids at the residence and office of Congress leader and former Chevella MP G. Ranjith Reddy, along with multiple premises of the DSR Group of companies in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Nearly 30 locations were searched simultaneously, including prime areas such as Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, SR Nagar and Suraram. Sources revealed that officials targeted the DSR Group headquarters and offices of its subsidiaries like DSR Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, DSR Constructions, DSR Prime Spaces and DSR Infra Developers as part of the ongoing investigation.

The searches, which began early in the morning under tight security, extended to the residences and offices of key company figures, including DSR Group’s Managing Directors Devireddy Sudhakar Reddy and Devireddy Prabhakar Reddy. According to reports, officials seized crucial documents, account books and electronic devices, which are suspected to contain evidence of concealed income and irregularities in large-scale property transactions. Investigators are focusing on alleged financial discrepancies and unreported assets linked to the companies’ real estate dealings.

Ranjith Reddy, once among the richest MPs with declared assets of Rs 435 crore, is believed to have financial associations with the DSR Group, particularly in ventures such as DSR Prime Spaces and DSR Infra Developers. Originally elected from Chevella in 2019 on a BRS ticket, Reddy later shifted allegiance to Congress but failed to retain his seat in the last elections. The DSR Group, established in 1988, has a strong presence in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai, making it one of the leading real estate players in South India. The raids mark a significant escalation in the crackdown on suspected tax evasion and undisclosed financial dealings in the construction and property sector.
