The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) website was hacked, redirecting users to online betting and casino sites. The breach, suspected to involve a Structured Query Language Injection (SQLi) attack, exposes vulnerabilities in HMWSSB’s website and Google News’s algorithm.
The hack allowed malicious actors to inject SQL code, potentially compromising sensitive data. Automated tools may have been used to scan for vulnerabilities. Currently, users encounter a “Coming soon, currently down for maintenance” message.
HMWSSB’s website hacking highlights cybersecurity concerns. Previously, the board completed a 90-day drive cleaning 50,000 manholes and 700 km of sewage pipelines, addressing longstanding issues.
