Hyderabad Restaurant Faces Backlash After Snail Found in Salad

A popular restaurant in Hyderabad, Shoyu, has come under fire after a customer discovered a live snail in her avocado quinoa salad ordered through Swiggy. The woman shared a video on Instagram, showing the salad and the snail placed on a napkin branded with the restaurant’s logo. The incident has sparked serious concerns about food hygiene at upscale eateries in the city. Many users expressed outrage online, demanding stricter food safety regulations. This is not the first time such negligence has been reported, with several similar incidents in Hyderabad raising questions about restaurant standards.

This case adds to a growing list of food safety violations in the city. Recently, a blade was found in a biryani order from a restaurant in Ghatkesar, and three people fell ill after consuming contaminated food from another eatery. Inspections by the Food Safety Department of Telangana have repeatedly revealed violations, including improper food storage and unhygienic kitchen conditions, despite periodic raids and checks. While restaurants often maintain clean dining areas, their kitchen and storage spaces frequently fail to meet safety standards, emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement of regulations.

Food safety remains a critical issue in Hyderabad, as highlighted by these recurring incidents. Such negligence not only jeopardizes public health but also tarnishes the reputation of the city’s thriving culinary scene. Authorities must prioritize implementing and monitoring stricter hygiene protocols to ensure customers’ safety and restore trust in dining establishments.
