Hyderabad Pub Penalised for Wasting Drinking Water, Supply Disconnected

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on a pub located on Jubilee Hills Road Number 45 for allegedly misusing drinking water to wash its premises. During an inspection, officials found that potable water was being used for cleaning purposes, which violates water conservation regulations. Following the inspection, the management of Fore-Fathers Pub was directed to pay the penalty, while the establishment’s drinking water connection was disconnected. The Water Board also stopped supplying water tankers to the pub as part of the enforcement action.

The action comes as Hyderabad prepares for increased water demand during the ongoing festive season. HMWSSB has appealed to residents and commercial establishments to use drinking water responsibly and avoid unnecessary wastage. Officials stressed that hotels, restaurants, pubs and other businesses must adopt water conservation practices, particularly during periods of high consumption, to ensure an uninterrupted supply of drinking water across the city.

The Water Board has warned that strict action will continue against anyone found misusing potable water. Authorities stated that repeated or serious violations could result in financial penalties, disconnection of water connections and suspension of tanker services. The latest enforcement drive reflects HMWSSB’s efforts to promote responsible water usage and ensure that precious drinking water is reserved for essential needs rather than being wasted on non-essential activities.
