Hezbollah Launches 200 Rockets Into Israel Amid Escalating Conflict

Hezbollah intensified its attacks on Israel by firing approximately 200 rockets and launching drones targeting northern and central regions on Sunday. The Israeli military confirmed some projectiles were intercepted by its aerial defense systems, but significant damage was reported, including the evacuation of a five-story building in Haifa. Eight individuals were injured, including a man near the Israel-Lebanon border who sustained severe wounds. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the strikes, describing them as retaliation for Israel’s recent airstrikes on Beirut and other Lebanese territories. It also launched suicide drones and missiles targeting military sites in Tel Aviv, Ashdod, and northern Israeli cities.

Clashes along the Israel-Lebanon border have escalated, with violent confrontations reported in Khiam, Yaroun, and Chamaa. Israeli forces advanced into Lebanese territory, demolishing 18 houses and launching seven airstrikes on eastern Lebanon and 10 on its southern regions. Over 50 artillery shells hit border villages, further devastating the region. The Israeli military has urged civilians in southern Beirut to evacuate, indicating plans for renewed airstrikes. Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported at least 20 deaths and 66 injuries from prior airstrikes on the capital, adding to the mounting toll since the conflict’s escalation in late September.

The prolonged conflict has left a trail of destruction across both nations, with heightened fears of further casualties. Hezbollah’s advanced missile and drone strikes signal a shift in tactics, while Israel’s intensified airstrikes and ground operations suggest a prolonged and expanding confrontation. The international community has expressed growing concerns, calling for de-escalation to prevent further loss of life and regional instability.
