During a campaign event in Hyderabad, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy clarified that his earlier remarks about Muslims were “distorted,” following criticism from the BRS. While campaigning for Jubilee Hills by-election candidate Naveen Yadav, he had stated, “Congress hai toh musalman hai… aapki izzat hai,” which drew a sharp reaction from KTR, who said no individual or party should claim ownership over any community. The episode quickly escalated into a political flashpoint, prompting Revanth to reassert that his intention was misinterpreted and taken out of context.
Addressing another rally on Wednesday, CM Revanth reiterated his government’s commitment to minority welfare and launched a strong attack on the BJP-led Centre. He alleged that the Modi government was “protecting KCR and KTR” in corruption cases while using central agencies like IT, CBI, and ED to target Congress leaders. He said it was evident that “KCR and Modi are on one side, and Rahul Gandhi and I are on the other,” accusing the BJP of seeking votes in Jubilee Hills by aligning behind the BRS. He also criticised the Centre for ignoring Telangana’s repeated requests for a CBI probe into the alleged ₹1 lakh crore Kaleshwaram scam.
Revanth further questioned the Centre’s reluctance to act against top BRS leaders, claiming the Union government had blocked action against KCR in the Kaleshwaram irregularities and against KTR in the Formula E case. Responding to Union minister G Kishan Reddy’s criticism of Mohammad Azharuddin’s inclusion in the state Cabinet, he asked why Kishan Reddy opposed a minority leader taking up a ministerial role. Revanth argued that such objections reflected political bias rather than genuine concern, urging voters to see through the BJP-BRS coordination in the by-election battle.
