The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has removed Vijeta Dahiya from his role as one of the movement’s official spokespersons after a viral video triggered widespread criticism on social media. The organisation said Dahiya’s actions were “deeply insensitive” and did not reflect the values of the movement, especially at a time when protesters and volunteers were facing police action during demonstrations in Delhi. CJP announced that he has also been relieved of all official responsibilities with immediate effect.

The controversy erupted after a video showed Dahiya eating a burger near Jantar Mantar while several protesters were participating in demonstrations and some activists were reportedly observing a hunger strike. The clip drew sharp criticism online, with many accusing him of showing a lack of solidarity with those protesting. Responding to the backlash, Dahiya defended himself by saying he was not elected by the public and therefore should not be held personally accountable. He maintained that he was participating in the movement voluntarily and that the government, not him, should be answerable to the people.

CJP acted swiftly following the backlash, stating that Dahiya’s conduct was unacceptable and inconsistent with the principles of the organisation. The party clarified that it strongly condemns actions that undermine the credibility of the movement. The controversy comes amid ongoing student-led protests over the alleged NEET paper leak, with demonstrators demanding accountability from the Union government. CJP, launched earlier this year by Abhijeet Dipke as a satirical youth movement, has gained attention for raising issues affecting students and young people across the country.
