Canada Expels Top Indian Diplomats Over Alleged Murder of Sikh Leader

Canada has expelled six Indian diplomats, including the high commissioner, due to their alleged involvement in the murder of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated that there is “clear and compelling evidence” linking Indian agents to Nijjar’s assassination and other violent activities targeting Indian dissidents in Canada. India has denied the accusations, calling Trudeau’s claims a “political agenda.”

The diplomatic row has significantly strained relations between the two countries. India has retaliated by expelling six Canadian diplomats, including the acting high commissioner, and withdrawing its envoy from Canada. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police has accused India of using organized crime to target the South Asian community in Canada and interfering in democratic processes.
